“Players are Arriving Faster Than the Power of the Servers” – New Shooter on Steam Has a Nice Issue

The new shooter Splitgate: Arena Warfare has become incredibly popular on Steam and the developers simply do not have time to increase the power of the servers behind the players.

Splitgate is an old school competitive shooter. The gameplay resembles Halo, but is supplemented with portals that can be used for teleportation or shooting. The game was released in Early Access in 2019, but the new surge in popularity is due to the release on consoles with crossplay.

According to SteamDB.info, at the beginning of August 2021, Splitgate already had over 53,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. Combined with all platforms, that’s a whopping 100,000 players at once. The Splitgate team announced this event on July 31st on Twitter and at the same time apologized for the queue to enter the game.

“The rate at which our player base is growing is faster than the rate at which we can expand the capacity of our servers. We are working on a long-term solution to expand the server capacity to over 100,000 concurrent players, but this takes time. Thank you for your patience, ”the announcement says.

It is not yet known when the problems will be fixed, but it is quite possible that very soon.
