Evil Dead: The Game is an extremely atmospheric survival simulator with horror elements and action mechanics with intense battles, gunfights and memorable attack combinations. The new part of ED develops the ideas of the series in terms of competitive concepts and modes, but returns to the already familiar scenery of the times of the 80s with the American backwoods, rickety huts of an unknown boarding house, corn fields and scarecrows frozen in silence.

The surroundings are familiar, but diluted with detailed effects and visuals, and at the same time supplemented with references to Hollywood blockbusters, science fiction books and horror films by King and Lovecraft. The gameplay has changed a little more fundamentally – compared to the previous parts of the series, a full-fledged PvP mode appeared in the spirit of Left 4 Dead, dividing teams into “infected” who arrived from the gap between the worlds, and Ash’s allies, who fights against the minions of darkness in the name of good, justice and light.

The roles on each map change in turn, and depending on the number of defeated opponents and completed secondary tasks, points are awarded and the winner is determined. The tasks in each of the teams are changeable – Ash will have to collect resources and supplies, open closed huts, find equipment and weapons to fight the enemy. But the “infected” need to move around the map and in cooperative mode stretch victims, attack and interfere with the liberation of the Earth from the impending catastrophe. In addition to PvP, there is also a classic storyline, divided into chapters and retelling Ash’s story from the moment of the previous parts of the series (some of the details of the story have migrated from the films and are full of interesting details). Despite battles with artificial intelligence (and not with opponents found on the net), the gameplay does not look any less entertaining and driving. Enemies appear at every turn, darkness falls, and equipment is always lacking for careless firefights. From time to time there are problems with navigation – locations are full of passages and puzzles and force you to wander around the map almost continuously in search of at least some clues. But there is practically no place to wait for help – there are only opponents, bosses and traps around, forcing you to look under your feet and believe in a bright future.
