Dragon's Dogma 2 has been released - Players criticized the new product for optimization and microtransactions

The release of the expected role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma 2 from the Japanese company CAPCOM took place. The game has become available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and is sold for a price tag of $70. Game critics praised the new product: on Metacritic, scores for different platforms vary slightly, but do not fall below 85 points out of 100, and on Opencritic the game has 89 points out of 100.

However, looking at the user reviews on Steam, we can say that “players are furious.” The game currently has 39% positive reviews out of 5,569 reviews on Steam. Most often, the negative is associated with poor optimization, but you can also find references to a wide range of microtransactions.

Even before the launch, the game occupied a leading position in the Steam sales chart and after the release showed high interest from players. At the time of writing this news, the peak online value on Steam stood at 184,724 players.

It is worth noting that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single-player game, and players are unpleasant to see paid game features in it: character resurrection stones, teleportation stones, changing the character’s appearance, keys for escaping from the dungeon, as well as premium currency for which you can buy game items and reset the characteristics of assistants (“pawns”).
