Increased demand reported for affordable devices with higher end cameras
According to TheElec, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will increase the number of modules in the main cameras for the company’s budget smartphones. These devices will go on sale in 2021 and according to Samsung, they will account for more than 10% of sales next year.
There is also an increase in demand for affordable devices with higher-end cameras, and low-cost smartphone manufacturers are starting to equip their cameras with optical zoom and other features.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has now begun shipping cameras with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. Production is expected to grow and these cameras will appear in mid-range smartphones in the near future. This will also lead to a double-digit increase in camera module sales in 2021, the company notes. Earlier it was reported that the South Korean firm also plans to supply main cameras for the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72.
It’s worth adding that Samsung Electro-Mechanics has also provided a 3x optical zoom camera for the recently launched Galaxy S20 FE.
As it became known, the US has allowed Samsung to supply screens for Huawei smartphones .
