The third-person action role-playing game HELLGATE: London, released in 2007, will receive a full-fledged sequel, codenamed Hellgate: Redemption. The game was announced by Lunacy Games, a studio founded in September 2022 by Bill Roper, the creator of the original. The new product is being developed for PC and unnamed consoles using the Unreal Engine 5, and the release date has not yet been disclosed.

“It has been a dream of mine for many, many years to return to the franchise we created in 2007,” said Bill Roper, CEO and co-founder of Lunacy Games. “I’ve always felt like I had unfinished business with the Hellgate IP, which is why our codename for the project is Hellgate: Redemption.”

“Leveraging Unreal Engine 5, cloud-based game servers, a wealth of pre-built solutions, and great developer partnerships, we focus every dollar on driving gameplay and innovation,” continues Roper. “We are retaining the core gameplay and story elements of Hellgate: London in our current game design, but intend to create a new, immersive experience that leverages the many industry advances over the past 17 years since the original game’s release.”

Hellgate: Redemption is a new game that will take place in an as yet undisclosed part of alternative history, in the setting of a demonic apocalypse. Unfortunately, the details of the project are still unknown. The developers only shared an image with the game logo located below.
