The creators of Control and Alan Wake will act as developers of remakes of the first two Max Payne. While there is no talk of a mobile port, the power of smartphones does not allow.
Max Payne 1 and 2 will be transferred to modern platforms – PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. So far, it is known that they will be combined into one title and made on the Northlight engine. This is what Remedy has been using since 2013 for their projects. The publisher will be Rockstar, which after the release of GTA Trilogy does not equal quality – critics and gamers trampled on her on Metacritic.
Remedy came up with the idea for a Max Payne remake, meanwhile Rockstar is already talking about a multi-million audience. The publisher will take care of the budget and marketing, and the developers will receive royalties after covering all costs. By the way, back in 2016, the creative director of Remedy and the face of the franchise – Sam Lake – wanted to do something new with Max Payne. The industry agreed that the remakes would be great, even though the rights to Max Payne have been owned by Take Two since 2002.
