Space simulator Elite Dangerous will start selling ships for real money

Frontier Developments, the authors of the multiplayer space simulator Elite Dangerous, decided to sell ships for real money. This became known from the news on official website games. This will apply to both old ship models and new ones. In addition, it will be possible to get early access to new ships. For example, Python Mk II will appear in shipyards only on August 7, 2024, but it will be available in the game store on May 7 for 16,250 ARX, which is approximately $12.50.

Finished ships will be tailored to specific activities and will include specific modules, equipment and paint jobs. The exact list of ships is not reported at this time.

“We plan for these pre-built ships to be a quick way for new players to get started in the areas that interest them most. Or for our current players who are considering a new career in the game, but don’t have the time to build one from scratch.” – Quote from the official news.

However, players reacted negatively to such changes. Under discussion news on Reddit you can find a lot of different comments: from statements about P2W to accusations of “killing” the game. But there are also players who were sympathetic to this decision, since this, according to them, will allow the developers to receive additional funds to support the game, and you can get all the ships and equipment in the game itself.
