Last December, the rights to the multiplayer first-person shooter World War 3 were completely transferred to Wishlist Games. Even then, the developers said that this transition would be the beginning of a new era for the game. Now the team has shared their plans for the future, answering several questions from users.
So, here’s what we learned from the answers:
- Now the developers are focusing on fixing the main problems of the game. They are also going to add a lot of new content: maps, weapons, modes and so on.
- Instead of small patches, it is planned to release large updates.
- We will be told more news about upcoming changes in the first quarter of 2024.
- There are no plans for a console version of World War 3 yet.
- The game will be distributed via Steam.
- The team will continue to add maps based on real world locations.
- Currently, MRAC is used as an anti-cheat, but the studio is considering other solutions.
- There will be no wipes.
- The developers promise that World War 3 will not turn into Pay-to-Win. Monetization will remain strictly cosmetic.
- You shouldn’t expect global gameplay overhauls.
- The authors are happy with the progression system, so they are not planning any major changes. But they are thinking of speeding up the progression for new players.
- Before adding new servers, the team wants to fix various problems, especially in matchmaking.
- The developers are not even considering such large-scale changes as the transition to Unreal Engine 5 until “the main points are done.”
- Removing the web inventory system is in the plans.
- Reworking weapon sounds is not a high priority issue right now. But it is possible that this will happen in the future.
- There is a chance that a server browser will appear.
- The current season has been extended to give the team time to work on the next one.
Let us remind you that World War 3 is distributed free of charge through the service Steam. However, now the game is not particularly popular – the average online is about 100-300 people at a time.
