How is this possible?
Yesterday’s test of the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card based on the Big Navi GPU (aka Navi 21 XT) in 3DMark has been updated with new data. The benchmark is the same, but there are more tests, and the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 has been added to the comparison. What is the test result?
It turned out to be interesting. As you can see in the graphs, in the Fire Strike Ultra and Fire Strike Extreme tests, the Radeon RX 6900 XT outperforms the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 in performance, and in Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme it is already inferior to the GeForce RTX 3080. How is this possible? An insider who published the test results believes that the whole thing is in the GDDR6X memory of Ampere video cards. However, explaining everything by memory alone is a dubious option. The source, alas, did not publish the conditions in which the tests were carried out, and in fact the results could easily be affected by overclocking the GPU or memory. So for now we will question these data. On the other hand, these tests can be considered confirmation that the performance of the Radeon RX 6900 XT will be at least as good as the performance of the GeForce RTX 3080.
