Aspyr Media may be working on a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier said in a recent interview that Aspyr Media is remaking a classic RPG. Its name is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. If you remember, Aspyr are the guys who brought KOTOR to smartphones. The studio also ported Star Wars: Republic Commando to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Someone is dissatisfied with her work: low FPS, technical problems, and so on. On the other hand, it is Aspyr who is currently porting past Star Wars to modern platforms, plus Jason has a long track record.

If these rumors turn out to be true, then Aspyr Media is better off preparing something more than improved textures: the first part was released in 2003 and was technically and graphically outdated. The local mechanics and combat system will definitely not be to the taste of new generations who have no tears of nostalgia for the KOTOR series.

On the other hand, you can hardly expect anything breakthrough: if you look at the Aspyr page in Wikipedia, then it says only about “porting”. Meanwhile, a handyman makes Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on Unreal Engine
