The authors of the MMORPG Blade & Soul NEO Classic talked about working on two types of bosses in the open world.
The first type are classic bosses, which are often found in other games. However, each of them has its own individual attacks, behavior patterns and game mechanics. Simply damaging them is not enough to defeat them. The developers have updated the classic bosses and are preparing to surprise players with new items.
The second type of bosses are powerful creatures (“Shinsoo”, 신수는) that appear in certain places and at certain times from another world. They are more powerful than regular field bosses and require more players to defeat them. Since their appearance is a large-scale event, the developers carefully approached the optimization of the game: there are restrictions on the maximum number of players on each channel, but the boss’s health will be divided among all channels. This way the raid will be challenging for everyone and every player will be able to contribute.
