As you know, Diablo IV is not officially available in Russia and Belarus. The game can be received as a gift from a user from another region, but even in this case it will not be possible to simply launch it from the launcher – some additional steps will be required. In this guide from the portal www.noob-club.ru you will learn how to launch Diablo IV in Russia and Belarus.
How to download the Diablo IV client on PC
Download the client yourself
The Diablo IV tab is hidden in the Battle.net app based on the region of the user account: if your account is registered to Russia or Belarus, then it will not be displayed in it. The user’s actual location (IP) does not matter, so no VPN is required.
The functionality of downloading and updating the client through the application is essentially not blocked, and it can be used using a third-party tool called Battle.Net Installer, which is also used by dataminers. This gadget requires .NET 6.0 or higher, but if you’re on a modern system, you probably already have it. Battle.Net Installer is better to use the latest version – now it is 1.6. You can download them from the links below:
After downloading in order, do the following:
- Launch the Battle.net app and log in with your account.
- Run the BNetInstaller.exe file.
- In the command prompt that opens, enter the following data (highlighted in bold), pressing Enter after each entry:
- TACT Product: fenris
- Agent UID: fenris
- Installation Directory: C:GamesDiablo IV (this is the address of the installation folder – it can be anything, the main thing is that there is enough free space on the disk – from 85 GB)
- Game/Asset Language: ruRU (in case you need Russian-language localization, you can see the formulas of other languages Here)
- Repair Install (Y/N): N
- If everything was entered correctly, the download progress will begin and the Battle.Net Installer window will display the options you selected, including “Progress” as a percentage, indicating the amount downloaded, and “Playable”, indicating the ability to play without a full download. Please note that nothing may happen for several minutes, so just wait and do not close the window.
- If you open the Battle.net app at this time, you will notice that the download manager will also show the installation process of “Unknown Game (fenris)” with the same percentage.
- When the progress reaches 100%, the game will be fully loaded – you can close the Battle.Net Installer.
Download a ready-made client elsewhere
If you don’t feel like or can’t fiddle with the command line, you can download a ready-made client online or from friends and then update it to the latest version.
How to run the Diablo IV client on PC
Loading the client is only half the battle, because it also needs to be launched, given the fact that the game tab is not displayed in the Battle.net application. To start and play after downloading the client, do the following:
- Open the folder with the game C:GamesDiablo IV, find the file “Diablo IV.exe” in it and create a shortcut to it.
- Open the “Properties” of this shortcut and on the “Shortcut” tab in the “Object” line at the very end, after the closing quotation mark, separated by a space, add the following parameter: -launch. In our example, it should look like this: “C:GamesDiablo IVDiablo IV.exe” -launch
- Click “Apply” and “OK”.
- Then click on the finished shortcut and start the game.
- After downloading, a window will appear with fields for entering your account information – enter them and enter the game.
- After successfully logging in, exit the game, open the shortcut properties again, and after a space after -launch, add one more parameter: -sso. It will turn out like this: “C:GamesDiablo IVDiablo IV.exe” -launch -sso
- Save changes: “Apply” and “Ok”.
- Ready. Then you can freely launch the client through this shortcut and play.
Launching the game this way does not require the Battle.net application: you need to use the created shortcut and you can bring it to your desktop.
Reference. The -launch option causes the game client to ask for the user’s account information instead of launching the Battle.net app and grabbing it from it. And -sso remembers the data entered last time, so that you do not have to specify them every time you log in (but this will require you to successfully log into the game at least once). If you want to change the account, then you need to remove -sso from the “Object”.
How to update the Diablo IV client on PC
Update via Battle.net App
Downloaded by you in any way the game client, you can try to “make friends” with Battle.net. Go to the “Settings” of the application, then select “Downloads” and click on “Search for games”. If Diablo IV is not in the list, then in the lower right corner click on “Find” and indicate the location of the downloaded client. If that still doesn’t help, try running the original Diablo IV.exe and/or Diablo IV Launcher.exe from the game folder, which will open the Battle.net app. As a result, the application should recognize the game and, if necessary, update, download the missing files.
Further, when new products are released, the Battle.net application will independently update the game client. Although the Diablo IV tab will not appear, “Unknown Game (fenris)” will appear in the download manager as changes are released. You may have to start the update process manually through the manager if it doesn’t happen automatically.
Update via Battle.Net Installer
If the Battle.net application by all means refuses to see the Diablo IV client, then the Battle.Net Installer is guaranteed to help you, with which you can also update the game. This will need to be done every time the developers decide to make at least some changes to the client. The steps are as follows:
- Launch the Battle.net app and log in with your account.
- Run the BNetInstaller.exe file.
- In the command prompt that opens, enter the following data (highlighted in bold), pressing Enter after each entry:
- TACT Product: fenris
- Agent UID: fenris
- Installation Directory: C:GamesDiablo IV (the folder with the previously installed client – make no mistake, otherwise the game will completely reload)
- Game/Asset Language: ruRU (language must match the previously selected one)
- Repair Install (Y/N): N
After that, the check and update of the client will begin, wait until it is completely completed. Then you can launch the game through the old shortcut and play as before.
