Horizon Zero Dawn took the already boring mechanics of exploring open world locations from highlands and added its own color, taking instead of boring towers and cliffs, huge giraffe-like robots roaming the world. These Longneck robots also appeared in Horizon Forbidden West, but since Aloy has more ways to get around here, extracting information from local robogiraffes now requires a slightly different approach.
In the new part of Horizon, Longnecks are not so easy to climb – to access each of them, you will either have to solve a simple platform puzzle, or wait with scanning until the later stages of the game, when Aloy will be able to conquer great heights with ease.
It is recommended to climb Dlinnosheev as early as possible in order to quickly get an idea of the surrounding area. However, it’s up to you to decide – explore them in the order that you see fit. We’ll tell you where to find them.
All the long necks in Horizon Forbidden West
Scarlet Sands
The first of the available Longnecks is located in Scarlet Sands. Climbing it right away will not work – it will become possible only after the plot point when Aloy can leave the Barrier. Once she has a glider at her disposal, getting on Longneck will not be difficult.
Standing Sands
The Longshanks of the Standing Sands is not available until you cross the mountain range west of Valleysong. After that, it will be easy to get to the car through the Spine Breaker in the southern part of the mountain range. To scan the Longneck, you will first need to knock him to the ground with the help of three ballistas, which are located in the same place.
Forest of Guardians
This Longneck is the hardest to climb. His route takes him through a village in the trees, which is now inhabited by aggressive machines. It would be wise to get rid of them first (it will require some effort and caution), after which you can proceed to Longneck – use the platforms to get on his head and scan.
jetty
Unlike the rest of his brethren that populate the world of Horizon Forbidden West, this Longshanks is almost completely hidden under water. The head is easy to get to this time, only it won’t do anything until you get the machine back up and running by fixing its two broken nodes. Luckily, you won’t have to look for the parts you need for a long time: they lie in heaps of garbage nearby, but in the process you will have to swim back and forth from building to building.
Shining Wastes
Longnecks from the Shining Wastes can be seen quite early, but you won’t be able to scan them for a long time. To do this, if without spoilers, you will need an improvement, access to which you will receive only at the end of the story. However, with him to get to the head of the car will be easier than ever.
Bite of Salt
This Longfoot is not even displayed on the map, because he does not walk around the world like his brothers, and just like that, you won’t be able to meet him. This is because he is waiting for activation inside the Iota cauldron, which is located on the edge of the map in the northern part of it. Get there and go through the cauldron – the path will end with a Longneck scan, which will take you outside.
