Bungie has announced that Destiny 2’s multiplayer first-person shooter is not officially supported on the Steam Deck handheld console. Moreover, for trying to circumvent this limitation, developers are threatened with a ban. However, this applies not only to console owners, but also to users of Linux and SteamOS operating systems on PCs using Proton technology.
It is worth noting that the architecture of the Steam Deck is completely open, so if you wish, you can install Windows on this portable. In this case, there will be no violations and account blocking should not be expected.
“Destiny 2 is not supported for play on Steam Deck or any system using Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. Players who attempt to launch Destiny 2 on Steam Deck via SteamOS or Proton will not be able to log into the game and will be returned to the Game Library after a while. Players who attempt to bypass the Destiny 2 incompatibility will be banned,” the statement said.
Valve’s Steam Deck portable console went on sale in the countries of the first wave on February 25, 2022.
