Isometric Action RPGs are still popular among players of different generations. Among the well-known projects, the Diablo franchise has made a significant contribution to the development of the genre as a whole, and after the appearance of the legendary series, many projects began to be called diablo-clones, diablo-likes and, of course, diabloids.
In this article, we will talk about the top of the best diabloids according to the MMO13 portal, among which there will be both new items and relative oldies of the genre, suitable for weak PCs, with the exception of games from the Diablo series.
Minecraft: Dungeons
Our top is opened by a very unusual project, but no less interesting for that – Minecraft: Dungeons. Of course, the style of “Mainych” may not appeal to everyone, so the game is in last place in our top.
Minecraft: Dungeons is an isometric Action RPG where players have to explore a world with a rather interesting plot, clear locations and dungeons full of zombies, skeletons and other evil spirits, and fight powerful bosses that drop valuable loot. The game allows everyone to create their own unique hero: you can make a character that destroys everything around with a fast sword enchanted with lightning and effective against numerous enemies, or a tank in fire armor and so on.
This project is available on PC and consoles, including Nintendo Switch.
Victor Vran
Not the most popular, but worthy diabloid Victor Vran also made it to our top. One of the advantages of the project is that it will run even on weak PCs.
Victor Vran has a good plot, saturated with humor and an interesting story, as well as an unusual pumping system. With each level, the character’s health level increases and sometimes card slots are added, which serve as both active and passive skills. There are no classes, so your gameplay depends directly on the deck and weapons, which can be changed at any time without any problems.
If we talk about weapons, then the arsenal here is rather big: hammers, axes, scythes, shotguns and much more. Each species behaves differently, and if one gun is tired, just take another one and give the monsters a beating. By the way, Victor Vran has the ability to play together on the same screen.
wolcen
Our top also includes a very controversial project from WOLCEN Studio with the same name Wolcen. The pluses include beautiful graphics, effects from skills and large-scale distant plans of locations. In general, at first it is interesting to play, destroying crowds of evil spirits on the way and getting various loot, however, the end-game content does not arouse much interest.
In many ways, the game resembles the notorious Diablo 3 with its interface, level design and many other elements. In Wolcen, as in any other diabloid, you have to clear locations, upgrade your character using the skill tree and repeat it over and over again. The game is not as bad as it is commonly believed, especially if you buy Wolcen at “delicious” discounts, it will pay for itself in full.
Lost Ark
Released in Russia in 2019, the isometric Action MMORPG Lost Ark still attracts players. It is interesting with a dynamic combat system, an abundance of classes, activities and a good plot. For PvP lovers, there are arenas and even a royal battle, and all players are average there, while PvE content makes you constantly develop in terms of increasing characteristics, damage, finding new loot and improving items.
Of course, Lost Ark also has disadvantages, such as large restrictions in pumping things, without which it is impossible to advance further in the story. Also in PvE, there is a need to perform activities for the sake of skill points, decks of cards and much more, even if you don’t like them. But, in general, this does not prevent you from spending a pleasant couple of hundred hours in the game.
Torchlight 2
You may be wondering why Torchlight 2, and not the first or third part? Thing is, the original Torch already feels a little dated, and Torchlight 3 got a lot of negative reviews, many of which were to the point. That is why only the second part got into our top.
This project offers everything that a good diabloid should have: a good storyline, several classes to diversify the gameplay in the form of Engineer, Drifter, Berserker and Emberling, a lot of weapons and armor, as well as progression for the sake of progression. In addition, Torchlight 2 is made in nice cartoon graphics, which makes it very unique.
The game to this day receives positive reviews, therefore, it is perfect for fans of diablo games, even with weak PCs or laptops.
Grim Dawn
Our top list includes a truly gorgeous diabloid called Grim Dawn from Crate Entertainment, where players spend thousands of hours to this day. This is a classic representative of the genre with a dark atmosphere, an abundance of monsters and unique bosses, a flexible leveling system with build-building, as well as a lot of content.
Despite the slightly outdated graphics, the game can please with its level design, nice skill effects and really great sound and music. Considering the fact that the basic version of Grim Dawn can be purchased at a discount for only 100 rubles, the project becomes even more attractive.
Titan Quest
So, we are moving on to the legendary project that was released back in 2006 and, most likely, most of you have been into it more than once – we are talking about the Action RPG Titan Quest. Despite its age, the game still offers exciting gameplay, tons of content, as well as the pleasure of clearing crowds of monsters and getting loot from them.
Moreover, in 2016, the authors released Titan Quest Anniversary Edition with improved graphics and many other revisions in a modern way, which makes the project look decent even in 2022. In addition to the main game, you can plunge into three more major add-ons: Ragnarok, Atlantis and Eternal Embers. And as you already understood, Titan Quest easily draws you into its bonds for tens or even thousands of hours.
Last Epoch
Despite the fact that Last Epoch is still in early access (since 2019), the authors of the project are actively developing it, trying to make the game as comfortable as possible and filling it with content, for which they receive a lot of positive feedback.
Last Epoch is sort of a mixture of Diablo and Path of Exile, where building is far from the last place and looks like a huge tree of various perks. The game has beautiful graphics with a dark atmosphere, a nice Hack and Slash combat system and, most importantly, good replay value.
At launch, Last Epoch offers a choice of five base archetypes, which further flow into fifteen more classes. So, for example, an Acolyte can be a Necromancer, Warlock or Lich, and a Mage can be a Runemaster, Spellblade or classic Sork. As in any self-respecting diabloid, Last Epoch has a wide variety of monsters and bosses, a lot of loot and good content content.
The only thing that can become a stumbling block for the CIS community is the lack of a Russian-language text translation. Since building is an important aspect of the game, some knowledge of English is required.
Undecember
Another interesting novelty that will soon appear on the global market for PCs and smartphones is Undecember. Of course, you may be wary of the fact that the project was also developed for mobile devices, but this had almost no effect on the quality of the PC version.
Undecember is a Diablo-style hack’n’slash RPG from the developers behind Lost Ark and Lineage 2: Revolution. A feature is a flexible progression system and the ability to develop in any direction, which gives good replay value. As in Diablo, the single player campaign is divided into acts that can be played over and over again. However, in addition to it, the game has modes such as PvP and joint activities.
The project has already been released for South Korea and will soon be available for the global market on PC via Steam and mobile devices in 2022.
Path of Exile
The first place in our top is occupied by the notorious multiplayer diabloid called Path of Exile. When creating PoE, the developers of the Grinding Gear Games studio were inspired by Diablo and they really managed to absorb all the best that was in the first and second parts of the legendary franchise.
This project offers everything that a high-quality representative of the genre can give, and all this is seasoned with good graphics, beautiful effects, pleasant destruction of monsters and bosses, and, most importantly, replay value.
In addition, Path of Exile, unlike many modern projects, has unique mechanics that draw players in for thousands of hours, or even more. When you enter the game, you are greeted with a choice of six classes, but this is far from the peak of variability. Special stones are responsible for active skills here, which must be installed in weapons and armor: they can be combined with each other to get a unique perk. Passive skills are pumped in a special tree of simply unimaginable scale – it is so complex and variable that it drives even experienced PoE players into a stupor.
Despite the above, the game is quite friendly for beginners, as all the important information and leveling options come with time. Nevertheless, in order not to “screw up” the character, many use special guides on the Internet.
This concludes our top 10 best diabloids. Of course, you may not agree with the positions of the projects, or even there are no games you love here, so be sure to write your options and opinion in the comments.
